CKL Developments Ltd

 

A Sussex-based internationally renowned historic racing car restoration company required substantial upgrade and an increase to their workshop and office space. With no further room available at their existing premises, which were in any event too small, restricted and only available on a short term lease, Build Consultants Ltd were commissioned to acquire a suitable freehold site and to oversee the design / build project associated with the increased size requirement.

Finding the right location within ten miles of the existing premises, taking on the challenge of negotiating the freehold terms, dealing with conveyance issues, the Environment Agency drainage design requirements and the local Planning Authority change of use conditions, all represented a challenge for the whole team.  Build Consultants completed the turnkey project inside 12 months, within budget, ready for the workshop to be open for new production to commence at a lull in the historic car racing season,

The stock of buildings acquired were refurbished to ‘Formula One’ standard of finish including such features as ceramic tiled floors, acoustically insulated engine test facilities and fully air conditioned workshops with extensive services provision and dedicated filtration / ventilation systems. Mezzanine-enclosed specialist workshops and welfare facilities were galleried above the main workshop to cultivate a team-building atmosphere where quality could be number one.
